Allan’s Good Idea

This book is all about the journey of childhood—tackling challenges, gaining new skills, and growing up. Inspired by the 'healing' smiles of children, I created a watercolor cover featuring a child in a moment of pure joy. I chose warm tones to build a cozy, inviting atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of letting kids be kids.

The Raven

Instead of taking the literal approach of putting a raven on the cover, I wanted to explore the deeper themes of this Gothic masterpiece: loss, grief, and despair. Using a serif font for its traditional weight, the design features two 'invisible' hands attempting to touch. This serves as a metaphor for the author's longing for his wife and the unattainable nature of his desire, reflecting the poem's core of hopelessness.
